Technical SEO audit

Find and fix the technical SEO issues holding your site back

Slow pages, meta tag problems and missing schema can keep good content from being read by Google and AI assistants. SSEO's audit finds those problems and tells you, in plain words, how to fix them.

Technical SEO

What you get

What is technical SEO, and why should I care?

SEO is the work of ranking in Google. Technical SEO is the groundwork under your content: how fast your pages load, whether each page clearly states what it's about, and whether your content is labeled in a format machines can read. When those basics are off, even well-written pages can struggle to rank.

Before Google ranks a page, its crawlers (automated programs that visit and read websites) have to load it and make sense of it. AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini also draw on content gathered from the web when they answer questions. A slow, unlabeled or confusing page is harder for both to read, which makes it less likely to be shown or quoted.

  • Page speed: how quickly your pages load for visitors and for crawlers
  • Meta tags: the page title and short description that tell search engines what a page covers, and that often appear in search results
  • JSON-LD schema: a small block of structured data that labels a page as an article, a product, an FAQ or a business

How does SSEO check my site's technical health?

SSEO runs a technical SEO audit on your site. It scans for the kinds of problems that stop Google and AI crawlers from reading and ranking your pages, such as slow-loading pages, meta tag problems, missing JSON-LD schema and more.

Each issue it finds comes with a short, plain-language explanation and a clear next step. Instead of a wall of warnings, you see what's wrong and what to change.

The audit is one part of your monthly plan, alongside articles, backlinks, AI visibility and social visibility. The articles SSEO publishes for you already include JSON-LD structured data and internal links, so new content goes live with those basics built in.

What will I see, and what do I need to do?

Your audit results live in your SSEO dashboard, the same login where you see your content plan, published articles, backlinks and Google Search Console data (Google's report on how your site performs in search). That puts your site's technical health right next to the work being done to grow it.

SSEO flags issues with clear fixes, but it doesn't edit your site's code on its own. Some fixes are quick, like adding a missing page description in your CMS (the system you use to run your site, such as WordPress or Shopify). Others, like speeding up a heavy theme, may be a job for whoever built your site.

Not sure where to start? Begin with the quick fixes you can make in your CMS, then pass the bigger ones to your developer along with the audit's explanation. If a fix is unclear, email us anytime.

  • A list of technical issues found on your site
  • A plain-language explanation of each one
  • A clear next step for fixing it
  • Your Search Console data in the same dashboard
How it works

Technical SEO in three steps

  1. Add your site

During setup, you add your website in your SSEO dashboard and set your brand voice, audience and competitors. Your part takes about five minutes.

  2. SSEO scans for technical issues

The audit checks your site for problems that make it harder for Google and AI crawlers to read and rank it, from slow pages to missing schema.

  3. Work through the fixes

Each issue comes with a clear next step. You or your developer make the changes, while new articles keep publishing with structured data built in.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Does SSEO fix technical issues on my site automatically?

No. The audit finds technical problems and explains each one with a clear next step, but SSEO doesn't change your site's code. Some fixes are quick changes in your CMS (such as WordPress or Shopify), while others, like improving page speed, may need a developer. The articles SSEO publishes do come with structured data and internal links already included.

What is JSON-LD schema, and why does the audit flag it?

JSON-LD schema is a small block of structured data in a page's code that describes what the page is: an article, a product, an FAQ, a business and so on. It gives search engines and other automated readers a clear, machine-readable description of your content. The audit flags where it's missing, and every article SSEO publishes includes it automatically.

Does technical SEO affect how AI assistants see my business?

It can. AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini draw on content gathered from the web, so pages that load reliably and are clearly labeled are easier for them to read. Good technical health won't make an assistant recommend you on its own, which is why SSEO pairs the audit with articles written to be quoted and tracks 10 prompts across those three assistants.

Will fixing technical issues improve my Google rankings?

Fixing them removes obstacles, but it isn't a ranking switch. Rankings also depend on the quality and relevance of your content and on links from other sites, which is why the audit runs alongside your articles and backlinks. Like the rest of SEO, results build over time, so judge progress over months rather than days.
