How does your link look when it's shared?
Enter any page and see the preview card X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Slack will show, plus the Open Graph tags behind it and what to fix.
Any page works: your home page, a blog post or a product page.
What Open Graph tags do
When someone shares a link, the network fetches the page and reads its Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image) to build the preview card. X also reads its own twitter: tags and falls back to Open Graph.
Without them, networks guess: you get a bare link, the wrong image or a title cut from your menu. A good card with a clear image gets noticeably more clicks.
Getting the image right
Use an image of 1200 × 630 pixels, under about 5 MB, at a full https address. Keep text and logos away from the edges, because some networks crop the card to a square or a narrower shape.
Networks cache previews. After you fix the tags, LinkedIn's Post Inspector and Facebook's Sharing Debugger can refresh their copy.
Questions, answered
What size should an Open Graph image be?
1200 × 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) works on every major network. Use PNG or JPG and keep the file under about 5 MB.
Why isn't my new image showing on LinkedIn or Facebook?
They cache the preview from the first time a link was shared. Run the page through LinkedIn's Post Inspector or Facebook's Sharing Debugger to make them fetch it again.
Do I need Twitter card tags if I have Open Graph tags?
Not strictly: X falls back to Open Graph. Adding twitter:card with the value summary_large_image is still worth it, because without it X shows a small thumbnail instead of a large image.
